My Lotería

How many images do I need to make a lotería

You need at least as many images as the board has squares: 9 for 3×3, 16 for 4×4 and 25 for 5×5. With exactly that minimum every board uses the same images and only the order changes; to make each board different it helps to upload several more images.

How many to upload so boards do not repeat

My Lotería does not repeat the combination of images between boards, but that is only possible when there are more images than squares. The table shows how many different combinations can be made, not counting the order:

Images you uploadBoard sizeDifferent boards possible
163×311,440
253×32,042,975
254×42,042,975

405×540,225,345,056

How to decide how many images to use in 4 steps

  1. Choose the board size. 3×3 for young kids, 4×4 for most games and 5×5 for long games.
  2. Count the players. You need one board per player. With few players, the minimum number of images is enough.
  3. Add extra images. If there are many players, upload 5 to 15 more images than the minimum so the boards are different.
  4. Check the app’s warning. If the combinations are not enough, My Lotería tells you and the boards will repeat images in another order.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use fewer images than squares?

No. Each square holds a different image, so you need at least 9, 16 or 25 depending on the size.

What happens if I upload more images than the minimum?

Each board takes a different selection and the boards look less alike.

How many images can I upload?

As many as you need; the calling cards print one per image, 8 per sheet.
